Based on the reports, perhaps we, and I say this in the broadest  
terms possible, are guilty of thinking of African-Americans and  
Latinos as somehow connected with us, but because of historical  
foreignness and the newness of these immigrants, along with  
reservations regarding a "foreign" religion, the new immigrants  
remain strangers.

Aside from the fact that work with other immigrant groups and African- 
Americans would be  reinforced by any connection to the immigrant  
Muslin community, non-doctrinal work with Muslim groups may be the  
special area that some of the older people on this list may be most  
useful and can make the most gains for socialism here and abroad.
