Yoshie's point is very grounded in history. Yes, the evolution of Latin  American and the Arab world have very different trajectories. And the  legacy of those different trajectories remains even when imperialism  subjects them to a similar rule, both economic and political.
  But one need only remember the 1960s and 1970s to know that the birth  or revival of radical groups and ideas on one continent can inspire  those in others -- if anything the imitation can be too close, not  taking into account regional differences! The Year of the Heroic  Guerrilla included Fateh, after all.
  I've been wondering for some time when the upsurge in Latin America  would have some impact in Arab countries -- including in particular  among the huge working class there.
  Needless to say the missing link is a revolutionary International worthy of the name to make the connections.
