Lebanon: One Year On
Nicholas Noe, editor of Voice of Hezbollah, will join Clancy Chassay (Lebanon correspondent for The Guardian), Samia Nakhoul (Middle East editor and former bureau chief of the Gulf countries, Lebanon and Syria) and Ramsay Short (former Lebanon correspondent for the Daily Telegraph and editor-in-chief of Time Our Beirut) to discuss developments in Lebanon in the year following Israels invasion.
Chaired by Sharif Nashashibi (Chairman, Arab Media Watch)
During last summers war between Israel and Hezbollah, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the longstanding secretary general of the Party of God, burst into the Western media spotlight. Yet well before the war, Nasrallah had acquired an almost unrivalled credibility in the Arab world among admirers and detractors alike, a profile that soared in May 2000 when he became the first leader to push Israel out of Arab land. Voice of Hezbollah brings to an English-speaking readership for the first time Nasrallahs speeches and interviews: the intricate, deeply populist arguments and promises he has made since the mid 1980s.
Edited by Nicholas Noe, introduced by Nicholas Blandford and translated by Ellen Khouri, Voice of Hezbollah is critical to the understanding of the man and the movement.
