Armando Hart states correctly that Barack Obama says he will
remove the restrictions imposed on Cuban-Americans travel to
Cuba by the Bush administration in 2004, and he also favors
unlimited remittances by Cuban-Americans to their families
living on the island, a rather important point which Eli
has completely omitted. In his hasty desire to attack the
Illinois Senator, Eli gets his facts seriously wrong.

If you read what he told the Cuban American National Foundation
in Miami on May 23, Obama stated specifically he would end all
travel and remittance restrictions on Cuban-Americans, not just
limit travel to once a year a Eli writes. And Eli completely
omits the matter of remittances. Well, It's fine to criticize
Obama, there are plenty of grounds to do so, but not on those
specific individual positions where his position is OK. OK?

Obama's speech to the CANF.

Obama's been moving to the right on many issues, but in this
campaign during this year, this is one position he has stayed
steady with. He might change that, too, but, so far, he hasn't.
(He's moved to the right from his position on Cuba in 2004,
but during this year, he hasn't watered down his current Cuba

"Barak Obama, the Democratic Party candidate in the next United
States election, has declared that if he wins, he will rescind the
standing provisions, dictated by the Bush administration in that
country, which impede economic operations for travel to our soil."

Where do people get this nonsense? Barack Obama has "declared" no
such thing; indeed, he has declared the opposite. He has declared
only that he will allow Cuban-Americans with relatives in Cuba to
travel to Cuba once per year, and NOTHING MORE. He has made PERFECTLY
CLEAR that he will make NO OTHER CHANGES until and unless Cuba makes
"concessions" to his liking.
