I would add to that I am sure that Hezbollah knows quite
well that if this time they were to go on and attempt to
finish off Siniora and company, this would mean a
new war with Israel with all the death and destruction
that would bring. It is true that two years ago,
Hezbollah successfully fought Israel to a humiliating
standstill and that the Israelis were forced to withdraw
from Lebanon without having accomplished any of the
goals they had set for themselves. Nevertheless, we
should keep in mind that this victory over the Israelis
came at a very steep price in terms of lives and property
that was lost in the war. It is easy enough for keyboard
bangers to forget this but it is not so easy for leaders of
a popular movement to do so I suspect that the
Hezbollah leadership has a pretty good idea of what
they can and cannot accomplish at this time. I am sure that there
is much that the radical left can criticize Hezbolllah for,
but I don't think that this one of them.
