Yossi:

However as interesting are these observations, one thing is clear Hezbollah
is not a working class movement but a populist one.

Reply:

Yossi, nobody on here thinks that Hezbollah is a working class movment.
However, there is a significant conscious working class element which has joined
forces under the Hezbollah umbrella in the shape of the Lebanese Communist
Party. That they have done so it testament to their analysis and correct
Leninist practise vis-a-vis joining forces with the most advanced anti-imperialist
forces in order to carry out its immediate tasks - namely resistance to
imperialism and colonialism at its sharpest point. By doing so they demonstrate
their credentials as internationalists, as it is in the interests of the
international working class that the US and Israel are defeated in the Middle East.

I think this is elementary, given the weight of existing material
conditions. Talk of socialist revolution and forming revolutionary parties in light of
these existing material conditions is just so much fresh air. You would
prefer, it seems, that communists, socialists, anti-imperialists, should distance
themselves from Hezbollah at this point. In this you are hopelessly out of
step. Instead of a progressive development, such a call constitutes precisely
the opposite.

Once material conditions change, then our analysis changes. As of now
Hezbollah are taking the struggle forward and the only place for Marxists and
socialists is side by side with them in the struggle against the common enemy of
all humanity in our time - US imperialism and its allies.
