[Marxism] Stanley Fish

Stanley Fish may have been a lightening rod for conservative
pundits--who tend to be idiots and didn't recognize one of their own.

Ideologically, he was always trendy and intolerant. I view his
ascendancy as an intellectual subproduct of the Reagan era, packaged
in academic liberal-ese.

Perhaps worse, as an administrator, he demolished several good
enclaves of scholarship in favor of the "star system," whereby the
budget is cut to the bone in order to bring in big "names." Makes a
big splash, though both Fish and the stars drift off to better things
pretty easily, tending to leave irreparable damage in their wake.
