There's also Kubrick's "Paths to Glory."
I must say I'm surprised that it's been so long since Louis has heard
the term shell shock. I feel like I was always hearing or reading it
in movies or books written anytime before the 1970s. In fact when I
finally figured out that PTSD was the same thing, what impressed me
was that they were converting what had been minimized with a somewhat
slangy term into an actual clinical condition.
Anyway today's burgeoning vets' movement might have some good
suggestions. And certainly the vets' movements after each world war
must have had some good pieces linking PTSD to class issues, given
that there were solidly prolabor wings of those movements (or that the
IWW and socialist movements had vets' arms).
