The behavioral psychologist B.F. Skinner in the third
volume (*A Matter of Consequences*) wrote
that the persecution of the Communists in the
1950s made him more sympathetic towards
them, especially as many of his friends were
blacklisted then.  The only such person that
Skinner mentioned by name was Zero Mostel.
Elsewhere in his autobiography, Skinner noted
that he once gave advice to Mostel on how
to use his studies of variable ratio schedules
of reinforcement to improve Mostel's
standup act.  According to Skinner the
advice was helpful.
