You can keep repeating yourself, David, but you have missed the point.
In fact, philosophers going back to Rousseau and Bentham have argued
that it is the ability to suffer, and not the ability to reason, which
should define how we treat other beings. Otherwise, you could
plausibly cook up a human baby and eat it with no compunction
whatsoever, the infant having no capacity to reason as such. What it
does have is the ability to feel pain, like every other animal on the
planet.
