[Marxism] Trotsky’s Jewish Question

I agree with Waistline, it's a reactionary article because the author, and
he's not the first, tries to 'recruit Trotsky to Zionism'. Like *everyone*
people were trying to make sense of impending Holocaust against Europe's
Jews and others out of favor with Hitler and the German Nazi state. Trotsky
"considered" where this placed Jews as victims and *through socialist
revolution* how their situation might of been alleviated. This included some
comments about the Soviet Jewish homeland project near Mongolia and a few
other considerations he made at that time.
The author, however, is particularly egregious is his assumption of why
Trotsky opposed a Jewish homeland in Palestine. He argues that Trotsky
considered this a death trap for Jews...and this is correct, LT did write
this, but not because the British imperialists would "sell out" the Jews,
which is the author's take on this, so as to better recruit Trotsky to the
Jewish Homeland utopia/dystopia. Trotsky argued that Jews flooding into
British mandated Palestine would set them up against the Arab national
movement, which of course LT was correct about.
There is a small literary industry by various Jewish "scholars" who write
tracts like this and who simply get Trotsky so *wrong*.
One can disagree with LT, and is obligated too, where one has real
differences over all sorts of Trotsky's views. But they need to based on HIS
views and not what one projects onto him.
