There should be no doubt in anybody's mind, that for decades the US Left and liberal community alike, has fiddled and fudged, and has just plain tried to ignore the issue of the so-called 'drug war'. But the issue, DRUGS, far from having gone away, is now the constant excuse given for US military and police interventionism across Latin America, and increasingly for getting the US government into forcing Mexico's corporate political parties, the PAN and PRI, to fight this US war on Mexican soil with Mexican bodies as cannon fodder. The result has been tens of thousands of recent deaths there, with the violence seemingly increasing daily. Further, the US has already used this excuse to fund Colombian and Peruvian death squad governments, and is now doing the same in Central America as well. When will it all be stopped?

Well, certainly it won't stop if we all put our collective heads in the sand and do not address the issue much at all. But the NACCP has just taken a courageous stance last week, and hopefully this will open the room some for the Pacifist Democratic Party led 'Peace' movement to come on board and take an anti- drug war stance as well. And Socialists and Left Libertarians? Well certainly we can hope that they will enter the fray with their mighty forces as well.We can only hope.... Yes, we can hope for some action on their part?
