Calverton's fatuity is well illustrated, at a time when the KGB honcho  
at the head of the Russian state is at as much pains to demonstrate  
his Orthodox Christianity as he once was to demonstrate his Orthodox  
Communism, by this quote:

today is disappearing; in line with this notion, he says:

“The best proof of that fact [that religion is disappearing] is to be  
seen in what has happened to Russia... Today the religious,
