A key critical point about Foster's piece is that it ignored the work of Giroux who cut his eyeteeth on Bowles and Gintis over 30 years ago in his searing "Theory and resistance in Education." Giroux and scores of educational theorists made several of Foster's points decades ago and have gone further in their analyses than does Foster, building on Paulo Freire, "critical pedagogy" and the revolutionary pedagogy and "Marxist humanism" of Peter McLaren.
