No, I think he's somewhere between a rationalist and an empiricist - those 
who call for a free marketplace of ideas would gauge the value of such ideas 
purely on their market utility. This is emphatically not Sokal's position.

I have him down more as a 'left social democrat' - but I think such people 
are worth engaging with.
