Of course they know that I exist. The Marxism list has a number of 
members of the Iranian left as subscribers. They appreciate it when 
people call attention to trade union struggles in their country even if 
it inconveniences a government that is part of the "axis of good". The 
revolutionary left in Iran might not get invited to give speeches at the 
UN or Columbia University but then neither do I.

I obviously come from a different tradition than you. In the late 30s 
Trotsky was accused of being "objectively" pro-Hitler (or worse) because 
he called for the overthrow of Stalin's dictatorship by the Soviet 
working class. As it turns out, the USSR lost millions of its citizens 
during Operation Barbarossa because of Stalin's stupidity. In the final 
analysis, the best guarantee of peace is socialist revolution.
