Monthly Review Press will very soon be publishing the U.S. edition of Ronnie Kasril's The Unlikely Secret Agent, which Patrick Bond mentions in this essay. Thsi book, a biography if his late wife Eleanor, won the Alan Paton literary prize in 2011. This is South Africa's most significant such award. The book is a terrific read, exciting and moving, almost like a spy novel (John le Carré blurbed it). We were very pleased that Kasrils offered us the book and then stayed with us after winning the prize. Not many writers would do that.
