"As Delbanco, invoking the nineteenth-century American educator John Henry Newman"

One would think that Richard Wolin would know that John Henry Newman, otherwise known as Cardinal Newman, was a Brit, not an American. In fact he started out as an Anglican priest at Oxford, where he was one of the leaders of the Oxford Movement, which sought to restore the Anglican Church's Catholic heritage. He eventually converted to Roman Catholicism and not only became a Roman Catholic priest but was raised by Pope Leo XIII to the rank of cardinal.

I am sure that Richard Wolin knows all this, but apparently they don't proofreading or fact checking at The Nation anymore.
