A deservedly positive review.

I was going to cite the book yesterday in the context of the discussion
about monotheism, because Sand has great material on how and why ancient
Jewish political and religious leaders forged the stories of mass murder
and war so prominent in the Bible, stories forged for contemporary
purposes. Then he looks at the extent to which (or not) such stories are
literally believed today, and whether they're referred to approvingly, and
how all that relates to today's Zionist political needs.

Read it! (Too bad Sand is a two-stater.)
