John, eventually I might get around to commenting on the evolution of
Socialist Alternative--much of which I find encouraging--but in my view
the vigorous application of party-building concepts laid out by Mick
Armstrong in "From Little Things Big Things Grow" would have led to a
dead-end. I strongly suspect that the SAlt comrades no longer adhere to
these principles but need to review the literature. My hope for the
future is a Syriza type formation in Australia that can express the
diversity of the revolutionary left. If the comrades can play a role in
catalyzing such a formation, they deserve a Red Medal. In any case, the
sooner we put terms like "democratic centralism" to rest, the better.
