Greg McDonald "I imagine an easy point of unity for these groups will be to adopt a name change: Democratic party USA."

This was my first reaction as well, Greg, given this grouping's stellar history of class collaboration and classic sycophancy to lesser-evilism. However, I do wish to test the notion of "unconditional positive regard"--if possible even though I am quite dubious. Is there any analysis by readers here about the recent trajectory of these historically reformist organizations that gives an inkling into their potential for engaging in a truly united Left?

My first impulse is that the former CP elements and SDs as well as Maoist Stalinists are seeking to capitalize on both the growing disenchantment with the Democratic Party machine and the recent attempts by independent and disaffected ex-members of sectarian left groups to build a united left movement to propose what would likely result in some "popular-front" strategy with liberal wings of the capitalist classs. However, in the spirit of rejecting previously hardened views regarding past "opponents" (no matter how justified), I'd like to know more about this initiative.

I am assuming that some of us actually in NYC or the east coast will be attending the forum if only to report its outcomes. I will definitely be interested to read about any on-the-ground reporting.
