[Marxism] Sweden riots expose ugly side of 'Nordic model'

I'm no unreserved fan of the Nordic model (as I'm a marxist not a social democrat reformist). But this headline is rather misleading. It is the dismantling of what is left of the Nordic model that is the problem here, not some "racist gene of the welfare state".
For instance: A recent OECD report showed that, of all member states, income inequality has risen the fastest in Sweden since the mid-90s. We have a school system that is the most free market friendly in the industrial world (more so than Pinochet's Chilean model even) since "de-regulation" starting in the 90s. It is literally falling apart. Results are plummeting. Sweden has gone from top of the class to barely mediocre in terms of students' achievements in a decade. Only 33 per cent of the unemployed qualify for unemployment support. In Stockholm, where the riots took place, more than 50 per cent of young adults below 27 live at home involuntarily because they can't afford to move out. Social housing has been sold out. Rents are going through the roof and there are absolutely no social housing policies left and no affordable homes being built. This is about the ugly side of Nordic neoliberalism. Sweden may currently be the world's quickest neoliberaliser!
