Frankly, my biggest concern at this point is that Socialist Alliance
will be susceptible to the "Solidarity complex", a tendency expressed by
the first group on the left to rethink the Leninism paradigm. It came
into existence on the basis that a new approach was needed, including a
break with "democratic centralism" and a recognition that splitting over
the "Russian question" was inadvisable.
However, Solidarity has failed to become much more than an aging group
of ex-Leninists who do very good work and put out a very good magazine
but who somehow have lost sight of the need for Solidarity to be a means
to an end rather than an end in itself. It ambles along year after year
without any perspective of becoming part of something bigger.
I truly hope that this does not happen to Socialist Alliance.
