[Marxism] The Rise of Al Qaeda in Syria: Separating Fact from Mythology

Thanks for posting this Michael. TahrirICN is really on a roll with great
articles! (e.g. those shared earlier by Louis).

Just yesterday there was yet another flurry of posts on Facebook by
leftists (unfortunately of all too many kinds) reprinting some MSM account
of new arms deliveries. Every fucking time it's like it's the first time
they're hearing this story, and it never fazes them that the arms never
come! (either they ignore the non-delivery, or they pretend it happened and
use it as "proof" of "rebel" subservience.

And yes, these same people have no clue not only about the differences
between Al Qaeda and the Brotherhood (not to mention Muslims not organized
as such), but also about why the Saudis and Qatar favor one versus the
other. Nor do they have a clue about the position that puts the US in,
having to juggle its own interests, those of the Saudis versus the Qataris,
of Israel, of Turkey and on and on; and then taking all that into account
in deciding how far they could and should push Russia!

But for all too many Western leftists, foreign policy is just like slicing
a potato, it's the same all the way through.
