1. It depends what you want from a biography. An overview of his life and
times? Try Francis Wheen or Mary Gabriel. A reliable guide to his thought?
Most of the biographies are strong on the personal history but weak on
capturing the complexities of his thinking in ways that avoid
oversimplication.

2. I read it once and have never had cause to return to it. Marx's Theory
of Scientific Knowledge by Patrick Murray is better and more concise.
