Galeano distinguished himself as a writer by transcending orthodox genres
and by combining documentary, fiction, journalism, political analysis and
history. He once proclaimed his obsession as a writer, saying: “I'm a
writer obsessed with remembering, with remembering the past of America and
above all that of Latin America, intimate land condemned to amnesia.”

“Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is humanity’s
original virtue. It is through disobedience that progress has been made,
through disobedience and through rebellion.” — Oscar Wilde, Soul of Man

“The free market is perfectly natural... do you think I am some kind of
dummy?” — Jarvis Cocker
