[Marxism] Fwd: Did U.S. weapons supplied to Syrian rebels draw Russia into the conflict? - The Washington Post

Is this true? I was under the impression that US support for rebels had
been largely ineffectual. Why would the US give the rebels an effective
tool like this against the regime?
