What you really need to do is try to imagine the consequences of a
"fascist takeover" in the USA led by Trump. What would that mean? If you
study what happened in Germany or Italy, the following consequences
1. It would be a one-party state devoted to Trumpism. The HQ's of the
Republican and Democratic Parties would be raided and all the officials
put into prison. All the Senators and Congresspeople would be replaced
by Trump's loyalists.
2. The university system would need to be "purged". Someone like Lee
Bollinger at Columbia University would be removed and then replaced by a
committed Trumpist, whatever that means. Courses taught by Gayatri
Spivak and Eric Foner would be eliminated and in their place would be
courses taught by men who believed in the racial superiority of Caucasians.
3. The NY Times, the Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, et al would
have their management and reporters replaced by Trumpists who would
defend the maximum leader's every policy. Attempts to start independent
critical newspapers would result in prison terms or execution.
This is not only the way that fascist Italy and Nazi Germany were ruled
but also Pinochet's Chile which was about as close to the classic
fascist model as anything in recent history.
If you believe that the class struggle in the USA has reached such a
fever pitch that such events could transpire, you really need to study
what happened in Germany. I strongly recommend William Shirer's "The
Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" as well as Trotsky's writings on
Nazism that are online at MIA.
