Today's Socialist Worker reprints chapter 2 of Ian Birchall's 1986 book on
social democracy, pointing to recent European elections and the Sanders
campaign as reason for looking again at the phenomenon:

Together these works IMO also help us explain the elitism and reformism -
and the social sources of same - which characterize today's tankies (i.e.
fans of Assad, Putin et al.).
