Interesting how close these debates about the Democratic Party are to
the debates that took place in Czarist Russia 111 years ago. In this
article by Lenin, substitute Republicans for Black Hundred, Democrats
for Cadets (Constitutional Democrats), DSA for Mensheviks and you will
be struck by the parallels. The Mensheviks advocated blocking with the
Cadets in order to prevent Black Hundred candidates getting elected.
This was a violent anti-Semitic and Czarist party that was the alt-right
of its day. What we are missing, of course, is anything like the
Bolsheviks even though there are any number of miniature toy models
running around proclaiming that they are.
