Raj Patel, Research Professor in the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public
Affairs at the University of Texas, Austin, joins us to discuss their
latest book A History of the World in Seven Cheap Things: A Guide to
Capitalism, Nature, and the Future of the Planet. Co-written with Jason
Moore, the book argues that our world is shaped by seven things: nature,
money, work, care, food, energy and lives. The two explain how these
things have been made cheap and what that means for the world's citizens.
