Utah Foundation is seeking an intern to perform public policy analysis
and research. This is a part-time, temporary position, beginning in
mid-August 2003 and perhaps ending December 2003, although there is a
strong possibility of extending the term of the internship beyond
December. The position pays $12.00 per hour, without benefits.
Graduate students are preferred, but a strong candidate nearing
completion of a bachelors degree may be considered. Students studying
public administration, public policy, political science, or economics
are encouraged to apply. Others also may be considered.
Candidates should possess the following skills and attributes:
" Strong analytical and writing skills
" Understanding of the public policy environment and skills needed to
perform policy analysis
" Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
" Understanding of Utahs political and government structures
" Ability to perform governmental research with an objective,
" Ability to direct ones own daily activities with a high degree of
Major tasks during this internship will include assisting with data
gathering and analysis for a special research project on Utahs
electricity demand and assisting in writing the sixth edition of Utah
Foundations book, State and Local Government in Utah.
