Progressive Outreach Director, available immediately

Creative Communications (CCi) mission is to ensure that voices and
perspective are included in mainstream media that recognize the
importance of economic fairness,
social and environmental justice and equal opportunity. We provide
mainstream media with high-quality journalism that enhances public
debate in eight states
(Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa
and Minnesota,) and are fundraising to launch in New York, Nevada, and
Utah. Due to
growing interest, CCi envisions starting up in 3 additional states by
2004.

We are looking for someone to join our team to help us grow. The ideal
candidate is a committed results-oriented social reformer with a sense
of humor--a self-starter
that can also follow established protocols and works well with different
personalities in a rapidly changing environment. (Comfort with paradox
required.)

The Outreach Director will be responsible for overseeing the recruiting
and organizing work necessary to fund the services. The recruiting
portion of the work will
include working with public interest non-profit organizations to
increase support for the services in existing states as well as working
to start new states. The organizing
part of the job will be to work in the states that have news services to
conduct regular meetings of participating groups, and coordinate the
work of key supporting group
members in each state.

Job duties will include, among other things:

·       ·       Strategizing to find local, state and national
non-profit groups to pitch to join the existing services. This will
include sending groups materials, referrals and then
following up with them.

·       ·       Working with other CCi staff to find groups to work with
in new states. This will include setting up the initial meeting, working
to get groups to that meeting
and conducting follow up. Some travel will also be required.

·       ·       Working with existing groups to set up regular in-state
meetings. This will include finding media experts to facilitate the
meetings and coordinating the meeting
logistics.

Requirements: A successful candidate needs to have: excellent people,
sales and organizational skills, and a closer personality type;
experience working with non-profit
organizations; knowledge of how mainstream news works; journalism
experience a plus; and excellent phone outreach and computer skills.

Compensation: This job is a three-quarters to full-time position.
Starting base salary is $30,000 with the potential to earn an additional
$10,000 to $20,000 based on
performance incentives. Health insurance will also be offered and
two-weeks vacation after six months and four weeks vacation after the
first year. Location: flexible;
an initial onsite training period of 2-3 will be required.
