CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER
PROVO CITY CORPORATION

ROLE AND APPOINTMENT:
Provo City operates under the optional "Strong-Mayor" form of
government, wherein the Mayor is the full time Chief Executive Officer
of the City. The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is appointed by the
Mayor with the advice and consent of the Municipal Council, and is
responsible to perform comprehensive administrative work as assigned by
the Mayor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Chief Administrative Officer oversees and coordinates the day to
day operations of assigned departments; assists in the formation and
implementation of administrative rules, procedures and policies;
performs all duties as prescribed by State statute and City ordinance or
policy; is a key administrative representative to various city and joint
action agency committees or boards; makes recommendations on the
employment of Department Directors and other key administrative staff;
attends all official meetings of the Municipal Council with the right to
take part in all discussions as requested by the Mayor; assists with the
preparation of the annual budget and management
of city finances; and performs other duties as prescribed by the
Mayor.

COMPENSATION:
$59,919 - $106,535 annually, depending upon qualifications/relevant
experience. Position includes a comprehensive benefits package. Further

IDEAL CANDIDATES:
Will be able to show the following: knowledge of leading edge policies
and programs in city government; the principles of public
administration; laws, codes, rules and regulations governing local
government administration; and the operations, functions, and
terminology common to city government. Candidate will have the ability
to: show demonstrated senior level experience in a similar organization,
using creative problem solving techniques and advanced team building to
achieve successful outcomes; provide strong leadership and management to
assigned departments; communicate effectively both orally and in
writing; develop and maintain effective
working relationships with diverse interest groups; and have a proven
track record demonstrating the ability and tendency to deal with the
public in a consistently pleasant, courteous, and calm manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in Public Administration or closely related field and
seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience with
significant senior level local government management experience; or a
combination of strong leadership experience and skills which would
demonstrate an ability to perform the duties.
Note: This position requires Provo City residency.
