Utah Humanities Council - Program Officer

The Utah Humanities Council seeks to fill a full time professional
position in outreach, grants administration, and program development.
The Program Officer will work with Utah's institutions of higher
education, cultural organizations (libraries, historical societies,
museums, civic groups, arts and humanities councils, senior centers,
etc.), teachers, community leaders, and the public to provide
information about UHC's resources and services, to offer technical
assistance to grant applicants, to promote partnerships and
collaboration between UHC and other organizations, to identify and
recruit program scholars, and to increase public awareness of UHC
programs and activities throughout the state. UHC values collegiality,
versatility, and flexibility in the workplace. Applicants must enjoy
working as a team member with a small staff, interns, and a volunteer board.
* academic background in the humanities (B.A. minimum; advanced
* professional experience in nonprofit, academic, or community
* knowledge of Utah, understanding of Utah history and culture
* strong communication and organizational skills
* ability to relate effectively to a wide range of people and in
diverse institutional settings
* willingness to travel extensively throughout Utah (a car is not
provided, but travel expenses are reimbursed)
* computer literacy
* grant-making and grant-writing experience
* familiarity with nonprofit work and volunteer boards
* understanding of public relations techniques and objectives
* high school or college teaching experience
* fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written)
Salary range: $34,000-37,000, depending on qualifications, with

Girl Scouts of Utah - Summer Camp Staff

These are temporary summer positions.
Join Girl Scouts of Utah this summer to guide campers in outdoor
activities at resident camp. Camps are located in the mountains above
Provo and Park City, Utah. Mentor girls in the arts, science, and
adventure activities such as: nature studies, hiking, backpacking, rock
climbing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, archery, low
ropes, pottery, photography, and drama.
Positions available include: assistant camp director, program directors,
waterfront director, riding director, program counselors, riding
counselors, unit leaders, and counselors. Live in position June 4-August
14, 2004. Salary, training, room & board, and health insurance provided.
