COMUNIDADES UNIDAS

1. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Position Available: Executive Director
Position Summary:
Comunidades Unidas is a private non-profit which works to ensure that
Latinos in Utah have access to the resources they need to be healthy, to
be educated, to develop careers, to raise strong families, to celebrate
their cultural diversity, and to become leaders in their community and
in society.  The Executive Director oversees the planning and
administration of all programs and activities needed to achieve the
mission of Comunidades Unidas and to ensure long-term viability for the
organization.  Responsibilities include: financial management,
fundraising, human resource management, program oversight, public and
community relations, marketing, board relations, and general
administration.  Position is hired by and reports to the Board of
Directors of Comunidades Unidas.

 Responsibilities:
• Collaboration with the Board of Trustees in fulfilling the mission of
Comunidades Unidas.
• Fiscal Management including development and implementation of an
annual budget to meet organizational goals, adherence to federal, state,
and local tax and audit policies, and protection of non-profit (501(c)
(3) status and organizational assets.
• Development and implementation of a plan to meet annual revenue
targets for Comunidades Unidas through multiple fundraising strategies,
including, but not limited to: research and preparation of grant
proposals, donor development, annual fundraisers, and solicitation of
corporate funds.
• Develop and oversee maintenance of the Comunidades Unidas database.
• Management and supervision of all paid staff, including hiring,
training, firing of employees, assessment of staffing needs, development
of HR policies, and employee evaluations.
• Create and maintain public relations efforts in the community
including media relations.
• Coordinate overall marketing of Comunidades Unidas.
• Represent Comunidades Unidas in the community.
• General administration of office space including lease negotiations,
bill payments, maintenance of space, etc.
• Strategic planning through community, staff, and Board involvement
• Board development.
• Administrative oversight of programs.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and minimum of 4 years experience with
a non-profit organization or related experience.
• Candidate must be a self-starter, with superior organizational,
administrative, people and communication skills.
• Candidate must have strong leadership skills.
• Candidate must have excellent speaking and writing skills.
• Candidate must demonstrate an ability to create and execute a
successful, multi-faceted fundraising plan.
• Candidate must have extensive experience working with Hispanic/Latino
communities and individuals.
• Candidate must be able to relate to and communicate with the target
population of the organization.
• Preference given to candidates who are fluent in Spanish.
• Preference given to candidates with a Master’s in Public
Administration, Social Work, Health Promotion or a related field.
• Preference given to a current resident of Utah.

2. PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Position Available: Program Director, 20 hours per week, $18 per hour
Position Summary:
Comunidades Unidas is a private non-profit which works to ensure that
Latinos in Utah have access to the resources they need to be healthy, to
be educated, to develop careers, to raise strong families, to celebrate
their cultural diversity, and to become leaders in their community and
in society.  The Program Director oversees the planning and
implementation of Comunidades Unidas programs and activities in the
community.  The Program Director also assists the Executive Director in
conducting fundraising activities and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities include: contract management, ensuring that contract
objectives are met, working closely with staff and volunteers, program
evaluation activities, coalition-building, community organizing,
strategic planning and planning facilitation, and grant writing.
Position is hired by and reports to the Executive Director of
Comunidades Unidas.

 Responsibilities:
• Regular communication and meetings with contract monitors from public
and private agencies.
• Working closely with Comunidades Unidas staff to ensure that contract
objectives are being met.
• In conjunction with Comunidades Unidas staff, preparation of
quarterly/annual project reports.
• Preparation of new and renewal grant applications.
• Facilitation and development of a statewide network to eliminate
health disparities among Utah Latinos.
• In conjunction with others, development of a 5-year strategic plan to
eliminate health disparities.
• Fundraising activities as assigned by the Executive Director.
• Program evaluation including maintaining a database and generating
reports.
• Represent Comunidades Unidas in the community.
• Assist with strategic planning for Comunidades Unidas.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or minimum of 2 years experience with a non-profit
organization or related experience preferred.
• Candidate must have experience in health education among ethnic
communities.
• Candidate must be a self-starter, with superior organizational,
administrative, people and communication skills.
• Candidate must have strong leadership skills.
• Candidate must have excellent speaking and writing skills.
• Candidate must demonstrate an ability to develop, lead, and facilitate
a statewide coalition.
• Candidate must be able to relate to and communicate with the target
