NOTIFICATION OF POSITION VACANCY
March 18, 2005

TITLE:  Director of Program Services
REPORTS TO:  State Director
LOCATION:  Salt Lake City, UT
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement


POSITION PURPOSE: Direct the chapter's implementation of the program
(including public and professional health education opportunities,
grants and community service projects) and public affairs plans, the
prematurity campaign and youth activities. Participate as an active
member of the chapter management team including supervising at least one
specialist.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee and insure effective program, public affairs and prematurity
campaign planning, implementation and evaluation.
• In collaboration with the volunteer Program Services Committee, review
and update the Program Plan as needed and review progress annually.
• Orient and train Program Services, Public Affairs and Prematurity
Committee members and all sub-committees members, as well.
• Insure that staff and volunteers follow all procedures and guidelines
related to program, public affairs, prematurity and youth activities as
disseminated by the national and regional offices.
• Market all mission activities of the chapter to their intended
audiences and to the public.
• Plan and implement, with the Prematurity Committee, all activities
mandated by the National Office to support the prematurity campaign.
• Oversee operation of chapter’s education and incentive project, Teddy
Bear Den.
• Recruit, train and manage a Team Youth Committee that also includes an
adult advisor.
• Manage coalition involvement and community outreach.
• Maintain an active Public Affairs committee and support legislation as
indicated by the Office of Government Affairs.
• Establish, manage and maintain NICU Family Support program for the
Utah Chapter.
• Attend relevant meetings in Utah, the region and for National March of
Dimes

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Masters degree in Public Health or equivalent education and
experience.
• Experience forming collaborative partnerships with healthcare
agencies, government and community groups.
• Track record creating and evaluating programs which achieve measurable
outcomes.  Experience working with diverse communities and developing
volunteers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving,
planning, implementation, organization and computer skills.
