Job Title:  Director of Annual Giving

 

Reports to:  Director of Development

Job Summary: 

The Director of Annual Giving (DAG) is responsible for the 
identification, solicitation and cultivation of all annual giving donors 
to Rowland Hall-St. Mark's School (RHSM) as well as the maintenance of 
all related financial records.  The DAG works hand-in-glove with parent 
volunteers in the "annual campaign" process by recruiting leadership, 
training volunteers, engaging individuals and building support for the 
school throughout the process.  The DAG has the primary responsibility 
for developing and implementing a strategy to maintain and grow the body 
of donors known as "Hallmarkers" (those donors giving unrestricted gifts 
of $1 - $10,000.) 

 

This is a full time, salaried position.  This person will frequently 
utilize the assistance of the Development Office Assistant.  

 

Responsibilities:

Annual Giving - The DAG plans, organizes and implements all aspects of 
annual giving efforts including but not limited to: developing messages, 
creating all print and electronic materials, establishing and managing 
the volunteer chair and liaison team, creating and communicating 
timelines, generating solicitations, preparing thank you letters and 
creating any associated correspondence.  The DAG plans and orchestrates 
all events associated with annual giving.

 

Database Management - The DAG is responsible for ensuring accurate input 
of all donor information into Blackbaud including but not limited to: 
cash, capital & stock contributions, in-kind contributions and donor 
history and relevant interactions.  The DAG also works closely with the 
Director of Admissions to ensure an accurate database for all new or 
departing constituents.  The DAG creates financial reports as necessary 
for board meetings, internal and external audits, surveys or other as 
needed. 

 

Donor cultivation - The DAG plans, organizes and implements the 
communications, meetings and events associated with Hallmarker giving 
club. Hallmarkers provide a vital segment of financial support (above 
and beyond tuition) to the school.  The DAG cultivates relationships 
with the Hallmarkers via "out the door" fundraising calls. 

 

Communication - The DAG works closely with the Marketing Manager and the 
Web Director by contributing monthly articles as well as donor lists for 
publication.  Frequently, the DAG will create personalized donor 
correspondence for the Headmaster.

 

Other responsibilities- Biennially, the DAG is responsible for the 
financial tracking of the RHSM Auction event.  Other responsibilities as 
necessary. 

 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree and five or more years in non-profit fundraising.

Experience with Blackbaud or other complex donor tracking mechanism.

Ability to set objectives, lead, motivate and manage performance of 
volunteers.

Ability to work independently and/or with a diverse team.

Attention to detail crucial.

Excellent writing and communication skills.

Exceptional people skills.

Flexibility and integrity.

Willingness to work varied hours.
