. Salt Lake County seeks a dynamic leader to manage the Salt Lake County
Personnel Division with responsibility for providing comprehensive
a large, multi-division government entity.
. Working under the direction of the Director of the Administrative Services
Department, the Director of Personnel must solve problems, build consensus
among competing interests, increase capacity and promote workforce
. The Director must be able to build effective working relationships
officials, County managers and employees and partner with County agencies
to meet service goals and customer needs.
. This executive level position requires the ability to build a creative and
cohesive work group, supervise staff, mediate conflict and model innovation
and high ethical standards.
. The Director must possess an advanced knowledge and competence in the
human resource profession to include current compensation practices, job
evaluation methodologies, effective recruitment and selection programs,
current employment laws, federal regulations and executive orders, effective
Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMMIS) and industry
. The Director must possess knowledge of best practices in human resource
. The Director will work with staff and administration to develop and
meaningful goals and objectives in line with the County strategic plan
manage the division budget in accordance with goals and policy initiatives.
PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's
Degree in Human Resources, Public Administration or other closely
related field plus four (4) years experience in a field closely related to
these duties, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory,
managerial or administrative capacity; OR an equivalent combination of
related education or experience except that education may not be
substituted for the required supervisory, managerial or administrative
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS POSITION: Based on Utah State
Statute (17-33-5), the Personnel Director is appointed by the Salt Lake
Mayor with the advice and consent of the Salt Lake County Council. The
Personnel Director is an at will employee and is subject to termination,
cause, by the County Mayor with the advice and consent of the Salt Lake
Council. Personnel experience in a political/governmental organization is
preferred. Starting salary is negotiable depending on qualifications. Please
