Girl Scouts of Utah
Position: Director of Communications
Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Salt Lake City

Accountabilities:
.    Design and implement a comprehensive external communications plan 
to communicate Girl Scouts of Utah's message.
.    Create and seize opportunities to spread the word about Girl 
Scouting through community relations.
.    Oversee all external media relations including video, audio, print, 
and web-based mediums. 
.    Ensure all publications are informative, attractive, and fulfill 
the needs of Girl Scout members and the community.
.    Hire, supervise, motivate, and provide leadership to Communications 
Department Staff.
.    Be responsible for significant, responsive GSU web presence that 
meets internal and external communication needs.
.    Actively support mission, vision, and programs of Girl Scouts of 
Utah and Girl Scouts of USA.
.    Manage preparation of annual department budget.
.    Participate in Leadership Team to create a successful present and 
future for Girl Scouts of Utah.

Position Specifications:
.    Minimum five years of writing and community relations experience 
with proven track record of success.
.    Bachelor's degree in related field.
.    Minimum three years media / media relations experience.
.    Minimum three years in a direct supervisory / management position.
.    Experience managing, developing, or contributing to a successful 
website desired.  Technical experience in graphic design and web design 
a plus.
.    Demonstration of a commitment to quality through the following 
attributes:  excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication 
skills; management of multiple priorities, detail-oriented with strong 
organization skills, sound decision-making and problem-solving ability; 
capacity to generate enthusiasm for mission through fund-raising and 
community relations; ability to meet deadlines, polished personal and 
written presentation skills.
.    Understanding of and commitment to pluralism. Willing to join the 
Girl Scout movement, accept the belief and principles of the Girl Scout 
movement, and the ability to wok with diverse populations.

Salary Range: $35,000 to $42,000 with full benefits
