Children's Health Coverage Coordinator
CHILDREN'S COVERAGE COORDINATOR (.75 FTE)
Voices for Utah Children, founded in 1985, is a non-partisan, statewide, multi-issue child advocacy organization. This position is funded by a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation as part of The Finish Line Project, a new multi-year, multi-state grant to provide financial and technical support to state-based advocacy organizations in states that are positioned to make significant advances in children's coverage. The Finish Line Project is supported by a national policy center, the Center for Children and Families<http://ccf.georgetown.edu/> (CCF), at Georgetown University's Health Policy Institute in partnership with Spitfire Strategies, that provides policy and communication support and strategic counsel to each of the state grantees. The Project will also help inform, seed, and support children's coverage improvements in other states and at the federal level.
The primary responsibility of the Children's Coverage Coordinator (CCC) will be to envision, articulate and implement state-level policies that will reduce the number of uninsured children in Utah. This will include working with state partners to put in place coverage and benefit options made available under the recently passed Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA), convening coalitions of community stakeholders, and coordinating children's coverage efforts with a broad range of agencies and groups.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree required. Graduate level education preferred. Emphasis in health, policy, or law preferred but all backgrounds considered.
* Self-directed individual with ability to work both independently and as a team.
* Basic understanding of state public health insurance programs the health care industry and
* Basic understanding of the state legislative and budget process
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical and strategic thinking
* Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and work towards common goals
