This position under the general direction of the Human Services Department Director provides leadership in the provision of all Salt Lake County Aging Services to the County's older generations.  As the largest Area Agency on Aging in Utah, Salt Lake County Aging Services is mandated to provide a comprehensive system of services that promote the overall wellbeing of younger, healthier and more active seniors and that support and assist the frail, older adult population to help them remain independent and living in their own homes for as long as possible.  The Aging Services Director ensures all statutory, State, Federal, and Older American Act requirements are fully satisfied.  Annually evaluates all Aging Services to determine if services are being provided to priority populations according to best practice standards, at a reasonable cost and resulting in the outcomes specified in the annual plan of service.  Prepares annual budget and service plans for the County Aging Services, for which funding is received.  Submits annual budgets and plans, through the Human Services Director, to the Salt Lake County Council for approval and provides briefings, supplementary materials, detail, justification and revisions as required.   Ensures all contracts needed to implement approved budget and service plans are secured, monitored, evaluated, and that all billings are made in a timely and proper fashion.  Develops public awareness campaigns to increase public knowledge regarding aging services, to promote the wellbeing of senior adults, and to encourage the older generations to seek needed services.  Collaborates with a wide range of allied agencies on a local, State, and national level that interact with or impact County Aging services and programs to identify and resolve problems, coordinate programs and services, and to formulate strategies in order to avoid duplications and maximize resources.  Researches, develops, and proposes needed State Aging legislation in coordination with the Director of Human Services and other partners.  Monitors actions of the State legislature relating to Aging Services and coordinates division responses.  Attends and participates in various meetings, workshops, task forces and boards for the purpose of advancing the department and division goals and objectives.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Business Administration, or other closely related field, plus four (4) years of experience in a field closely related to these duties, two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative or management capacity or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Education may not be substituted for the required administrative or management experience.
