The Multnomah County Auditor's Office announces an opportunity to join a dedicated and hard working team that is
responsible for conducting performance audits of county government operations. There are two openings and these are
exempt, unclassified positions serving at the pleasure of the County Auditor. The positions are located in the elected
County Auditor's Office. The Performance Auditor position is considered an entry-level position within the office and the
preference is to hire two entry-level individuals though consideration will be given to hiring one individual at the Senior
Performance Auditor level, depending on applicants and qualifications. Work includes evaluating organizational efficiency
and effectiveness; compliance with legal and administrative requirements; adequacy of management systems and
controls; and risk of loss, waste, and abuse of County resources.

In order to meet the screening qualifications for this recruitment, applicants must have a combination of education and
experience equivalent to that outlined below. The following guidelines will be used in evaluating applications. Hours less
than 40 per week will be prorated. Relevant experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Relevant education may substitute for some or all of the required experience. Post-high school education will be credited on
the basis of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours equal one year.
Experience: One year of combined responsible work and/or intern experience is required for the Performance Auditor
position. Minimum of three years of increasingly responsible research, program evaluation, or
performance auditing experience with demonstrated writing skills required for the Senior-level.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in
public administration, social sciences, business, or a related field. Post-baccalaureate degree, or work
toward certification in auditing or accounting a plus.

Describe your experience in
1. Describe your experience and educational training in methods of identifying and collecting data, selecting
appropriate analytical methods and interpreting results that you feel would be most relevant to the job.
2. Describe your methods for identifying performance goals or criteria, analysis of operations and services, and
reporting the results. List some of the areas you have audited or assessed and examples of recommendations.
3. Describe the software applications that you are familiar with and have used for statistical analysis, graphic
presentation, and report preparation. Indicate your level of skill with each.
4. Performance audits evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and policies, looking at existing
conditions, operational practices, performance and outcomes, and also making recommendations for improvement.
Describe how your experience and education has prepared you for these tasks.
