Coordinator, Administrative Program-Volunteer Coordinator (grade 011)
Red Butte Garden & Arboretum
Salary Range: From
Volunteer Recruitment: Produce information for PSA's, brochures, newspaper ads, Garden website, etc; send information to prospective volunteers; field phone call and email inquiries about the Garden and its volunteer program; public speaking and attendance at conferences and community service fairs; create partnerships with community service centers, service learning organizations, corporate and church groups; interview new volunteers to determine availability and area of interest and place accordingly.
Volunteer training, retention, and recognition: Develop and lead new volunteer orientation and training sessions; regularly communicate with departments via volunteer tracking reports to track volunteer activity and ever-changing volunteer needs; produce monthly volunteer newsletter in both print and electronic editions to update volunteers on current opportunities and Garden events; provide conflict management for volunteers and staff; organize and implement incentives and awards programs; lead planning efforts for annual volunteer recognition events including annual volunteer appreciation event.
Managing Volunteer Program and Database: Create and maintain current volunteer database; manage volunteer budget; schedule volunteers for special events, tram tours, off-site community events and more; update volunteer handbook, directory and other informational materials as needed; conduct exit interviews and follow-up calls with recent 'inactive' volunteers; participate in workshops and weekly managers meetings.
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field, plus one year directly related experience

-Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
-Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content
-Strong organizational skills and experience in managing multi-faceted projects
-Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
Degree in Horticulture or Botany
40 Hours/Week ; 8:30 am to 5 pm; Tuesday through Saturday.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check.
