Administrative Assistant to the City Manager:
Duties: This position reports directly to the city manager and is the main staff support to the manager. The assistant will oversee the internet social outreach of the city including maintaining current content on the city website, implement activities that will enhance the economic viability of the city's internet activity. This outreach will include the use of Twitter, Facebook, Blog, etc.
The assistant will maintain personnel records, keep personnel policies current, oversee recruitment and policy training of new personnel and coordinate personnel evaluations. The assistant will perform research for the city manager, prepare departmental agendas, manage the correspondence of the city manager and assist the mayor and manager with written correspondence and verbal communication. Attendance at city council meetings is required along with work beyond 40 hours in a week.
The assistant will be responsible for various computer programs that manage the security, communication and comfort of city hall. The assistant will prepare and make presentations to the city council and other governmental agencies as needed. The assistant will be the process policy coordinator of the city.
Qualifications and Skills:
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelors degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Communication, English, Journalism or a similar field of study. Proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Search, Facebook, Twitter required. Two years of work experience is required that shows an increase in work skills and responsibilities. Excellent professional demeanor, telephone and verbal skills are a must.
Compensation and Benefits: This is a full time hourly position. The successful applicant will be a Grade 19, paid within a range from $18.61 - $26.26 per hour. It is anticipated that placement will be towards the bottom of the range. The city provides health insurance, State retirement, vacation and sick leave, in addition to state and federal holidays. The city currently works a 4-10 work schedule.
