ASSOCIATE STATE DIRECTOR
ADVOCACY
Working to help ensure AARP is a powerful force in gaining enlightened
public policy in the field of health, long-term care, and financial and economic
security, you will develop and implement advocacy, and outreach
and service strategies and tactics with staff and volunteer teams. You will
coordinate non-partisan state and federal election activities and guide
strategy development for grassroots and election efforts through goal setting,
priority ranking, political and environmental scanning and advocacy
outcome measurements; manage volunteers to represent AARP public
policy, collaborate with business & community organizations, and lobby
state government to promote AARP public policy.
Teamwork skills are important as outreach and advocacy work hand-inhand
at AARP to achieve positive social change and member value. You
will be joining a strong partnership of AARP national and state staff and
volunteers who are building a powerful presence in Utah using a team
approach.
Requires: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience,
including: excellent interpersonal, communication and volunteer
management skills, knowledge of issues affecting older adults such as
Medicare, Medicaid, long term care, health and supportive service including
prescription drugs; and financial/economic security. Campaign experience
and experience dealing with the departments in state government
that deals with these issues preferred. Travel: Up to 50%.

Assistant City Manager

Human Resources/Emergency Management

Draper City is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Assistant City Manager. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position plans, organizes, manages and directs a comprehensive human resources management program. Also has specific responsibility for emergency services coordination and performing a variety of professional, administrative and managerial duties identifying, analyzing, proposing and implementing solutions to operational problems.

Candidate should be an experienced manager committed to organizational effectiveness, continuous customer service improvement, and high ethical standards. Must be self-motivated and comfortable working with minimal direction. Must have demonstrated effective leadership and administrative abilities and possess excellent strategic planning, management, interpersonal, team participation, and both written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in public or business administration, human resources or related field is required along with five years of progressively responsible experience in one or more areas of public administration. At least two years experience at the Assistant City Manager or Department Head level is required.

Salary range $88,236 to $123,621; hiring range $88,236 to $110,000 depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefit package.
