Internship Job Description

Job Title: Program Intern

Status: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week.
Pay Range: $2,500 stipend per semester
Duration: September to May

Position Description
The Program Intern will work to promote and coordinate Commission activities as outlined in current legislation, specifically in support of the youth committee, and developing a more focused older adults program.
Specific duties may include:
*         Youth Committee: manage all responsibilities related to the Youth Committee, including the Summer of Service program and Global Youth Service Day, including grant requests and management; work closely with the Youth Commissioner to recruit and manage an active Youth Committee; work to increase youth volunteer rates throughout the state; develop data collection method to measure effectiveness of the programs.
*         Older Adults program: work with the Community Collaboration Committee to plan and develop an Older Adults program, including long-term goals, develop data collection method to measure effectiveness of the programs.  .

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
This is a program job requiring knowledge and experience in working with youth, and developing new programs. Must be able to review data and report; work with committees; make recommendation and give appropriate advice, and manage grant requests. Must have the ability to speak clearly, concisely and effectively; research methods, techniques and our sources of information; compose and produce reports, documents and related materials. Experience working with youth and older adults preferred, but not required. Stipend will be paid on satisfactory completion of each semester of the internship.

It provides leadership to strengthen service-learning, co-curricular service, community-based research, and other civic engagement initiatives statewide. We need a detail oriented individual to serve as a program assistant who will maintain the administrative and organizational aspects of our office. This will include opportunities to interact with our constituents in higher education and improve your office organizational skills.

The applicant must be a student with an accepted Work-Study award for the current year. Work-Study award status may be viewed through CIS on the Financial Aid Status Page.

*Processing payment requests, purchase orders, journal entries, and deposits
*Making travel arrangements, as well as processing travel reimbursements
*Assisting in office organization, including maintaining storage space and filing
*Assisting the Executive Director with administrative tasks when needed
*Updating the Utah Campus Compact website (using Drupal) and sending out a bi-weekly newsletter (using MailChimp)
*Maintaining contact lists for all Utah Campus Compact constituents
*Preparing and sending out mailings
*Assisting with event planning and coordination at all Utah Campus Compact events
