The City of South Salt Lake is accepting applications for the following position:

BUSINESS SUPPORT COORDINATOR

The Business Support Coordinator reports to the Community Development Director; acts as the liaison between businesses, landlords and the City; is responsible for developing a coordinated effort for educating businesses on zoning and business license regulations, communicating business needs and recommendations to the City, administering and enforcing business license and zoning regulations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Develops a proactive and responsive outreach program to create working relationships with the business community

1.1 Regularly visits businesses to address their business needs

1.2 Works in conjunction with the South Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce to provide outreach to the business community

1.3 Works with businesses to navigate through the governmental process more effectively and efficiently

1.4 Represents the City as the point of contact between the business community and the City



2. Proactively works with businesses and rental landlords to obtain a City business license

2.1 Performs field investigations to determine status of non-responsive or delinquent renewals

2.2 Works with other City departments in the review of business license applications

3. Administers and enforces business license regulations

3.1 Tracks, maintains records, and enforce nuisance businesses, licensing, and zoning regulations

3.2 Issues warnings, notices, or citations in order to secure ordinance compliance

3.3 Testifies and presents evident in court hearings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years experience in a related field, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Must possess a valid state driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Knowledge of City codes and zoning requirements; knowledge of evidence preparation and presentation procedures necessary for court hearings.

2. Skill in word processing, spreadsheets, office machine usage and the operation of microcomputers; skill in public and government relations.

3. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to work and coordinate with City business owners and citizens on zoning, housing nuisance, health and City codes.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office and moderate to loud in the field.

GRADE: 16

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,742 - $4,148 (typically hire at minimum)
