Job Summary

The Utah Pediatric Partnership to Improve Healthcare Quality (UPIQ), www.upiq.org, has an immediate opening for a Quality Improvement Specialist to plan, coordinate, and implement quality improvement projects (learning collaboratives) in pediatric and family medicine practices that will lead to sustainable changes resulting in improved quality of care and outcomes for children and families in Utah.

Responsibilities

1. Plan learning collaboratives by working with planning committees to research best practices and resources, recruit speakers and peer mentors, design curriculum, select and design delivery medium(s) (i.e., learning session, web-based, office-based), create tools, design data collection and evaluation, recruit practices and obtain approvals to award credits toward licensure and certification for participants.
2. Plan, organize, prepare for, and conduct learning collaborative sessions.
3. Administer process for participants to receive credits toward licensure and certification.
4. Support practice teams throughout collaborative lifecycle with mentoring, resources, data collection and reporting, and sharing of lessons learned across participating practices.
5. Conduct collaborative wrap-up activities including post-survey and analysis, evaluation, and publishing-related support (if publishing).
6. Conduct post-collaborative holding the gains/continuous improvement activities.
7. Support UPIQ Steering Committee and other relevant committees as needed.
8. Participate in on-going UPIQ needs assessment to identify improvement opportunities and topics for future learning collaboratives.
9. Foster relationships with partner organizations.
10. Research, evaluate and implement technology solutions to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency including but not limited to collaboration tools, survey tools, remote meeting/event platforms, e-learning platforms, etc.
11. Participate in preparing proposals for funding opportunities.
12. Create content for relevant websites, newsletters and conferences.
13. Continually improve necessary skills.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in health care field or equivalency
* Two years of clinical or related hospital experience
* Working knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, tools and techniques.
* Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate and mentor project teams preferably using QI methods (e.g., PDSA).
* PC/Windows literate with working knowledge of the following Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferences

* Master's degree in a related area (MHA, MPH, MPA, MBA, MSW) or equivalency plus two years of clinical experience.
* 5+ years work experience preferable in the areas of management, quality improvement, program development, training, research, evaluation and/or health information technology.
* Experience in clinical settings, ideally outpatient primary care or subspecialty area.
* Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks with a willingness to pitch in when necessary at all task levels.
* Proven ability to proactively identify issues, diplomatically resolve problems and effectively manage conflict.
* Ability to learn quickly, readily adopt new technologies and work independently.
