Utah Clean Air Partnership (UCAIR)
UCAIR, a statewide clean air nonprofit organization created to help improve Utah's air quality by empowering individuals, businesses and governments to take proactive actions to reduce air pollution, is seeking an Executive Director. UCAIR's purpose is to effect positive change toward improved air quality across the State of Utah.
UCAIR builds on and complements the shared strengths of state and local organizations working to improve air quality. UCAIR was created to foster partnerships and collaboration to leverage the capacities, talents, insights and commitment of these organizations. UCAIR will engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, from large and small businesses to municipalities to school districts to individuals, to involve residents across the state in its efforts to improve air quality. UCAIR will promote technical solutions for this complex issue and support the implementation of effective solutions.
UCAIR plans to achieve its mission through:
* Public Education -Educate the public about the air quality problem and equip citizens with simple, straightforward and effective solutions for daily implementation.
* Grants and Loans -Provide resources to those individuals, businesses and organization seeking to be part of the air quality solution.
* Voluntary Reductions -Persuade Utah residents, businesses, and governments to take voluntary actions to reduce emissions.
UCAIR is guided by an eleven member Board of Directors. Board members represent state and local government, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, health, business and industry, economic development, and state nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving air quality.
An important focus of the incoming Executive Director will be implementing the vision and work plan of the Board by strategically expanding and building partnerships with other air quality organizations, establishing a donor base, effectively fundraising, and communicating a unified and consistent air quality message. The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of UCAIR.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide strategic leadership and effective teamwork for partners and the Board.
* Manage UCAIR in a fiscally prudent way that optimizes operations.
* Lead the organization while establishing priorities and achieving results.
* Represent the organization and communicate effectively in a variety of public and private forums.
* Execute the operational plan and ensure the most efficient and effective use of resources.
* Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of the Board and partners.
* Oversee and effectively manage the planning, implementation, execution, and evaluation of the organization's programs, projects, and services.
* Prepare and monitor a comprehensive budget, oversee the development of fundraising plans, write funding proposals, and develop strategic relationships to assist in sustainable funding for the organization.
* Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board
* Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization and provide the Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the expenditures of the organization.
* Facilitate communication and establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with partners, community groups, donors, government officials, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization.
UCAIR is a relatively new nonprofit. The ideal candidate would have experience in nonprofit leadership and be prepared to define the organization and the role of the Executive Director. The Executive Director will be the sole staff person for UCAIR, although additional staff will be hired as the organization grows.
Ideal candidates are self-starters, motivators, leaders, and relationship builders. They should be creative and organized. Functional understanding of air quality issues is preferred.
Ideal candidates should also possess the following :
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities
* Grants and loans project management skills
* Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and programs
* Ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision
* Budget preparation and management skills
* Research, evaluation, and analytic skills
* Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and website development
A Bachelor's degree or commensurate years of experience is required and a Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
